MELS makes major investment in virtual production

After making a major investment in developing virtual film production capabilities and operating its virtual stage for more than a year, MELS is unveiling new state-of-the-art facilities: a cutting-edge 10,000 square-foot virtual production stage equipped with a motorized movable ceiling This programmable, robotic feature opens up exciting possibilities for virtual production.

“Our new virtual stage will let us take our know-how to the next level and apply our advanced expertise to continue developing our services for major local and foreign projects,” says Richard Cormier, Executive Producer, Virtual Production at MELS.

Recognized expertise
MELS has applied its expertise to a long list of virtual production projects over the past year, including Transformer 7, Disappointment Blvd., Nissan, Loto-Québec, The Moodys, Lignes de fuite, Arlette!, Les Trois Accords, Five Roses, Survival, Via Mare and many others. MELS was recently awarded an Epic MegaGrant by EPIC Games to support ongoing
development of its virtual initiatives.

MELS embarked on its digital shift in 2020 with the launch of a virtual production stage equipped with an LED-screen backdrop. The technology makes it possible to replace green
screens and create a virtual set in real time.
